Edition No. 22

Cross/Square/Circle, 2002

A pioneer of non-representational art, in 1915 Malevich created one of the most radical art works of all time, the Black Square. Together with the circle and the cross, this geometrical "zero form" constitutes one of the three basic elements of Suprematist art.

For Malevich, Suprematism was the fundamental ordering principle of the world. As a logical consequence of this insight, during the twenties he also designed Suprematist ceramics, murals and textiles.

The edition created especially for the Kasimir Malevich: Suprematism exhibition incorporates these three forms - the cross, the square and the circle - in an unusual set of three cuff links, manufactured by the Moscow silversmith Master-R.O.S.S.I.I.

Cuff links, black enamel motif set in 925 silver engraved, in a wooden casket.
