Edition No. 10
Hiroshi Sugimoto: "The necklace of Jane Seymour", 2000
Inspired by Hiroshi Sugimoto's Portraits (3/5 - 5/14/2000) a black and white replica of the necklace that belonged to Jane Seymour, the third wife of Henry VIII, was created as Deutsche Guggenheim's Edition No. 10.
Here, the series of reproductions recalls its starting point: the necklace as it was first recorded in a painting by Hans Holbein the Younger, then translated into wax at Madame Tussaud's, and transposed by Sugimoto into the form of a black and white photograph, is now reincarnated as a piece of jewellery to be worn. Necklace and jewellery box has been handmade in Berlin workshops.
Necklace, two parts; nickel free silvered brass; Swarowski glass stones in black velvet box.
Limited edition of 100, signed by the artist on label.
